What Ascenda is

Ascenda helps you find university courses that fit your grades and what you want, and keep track of the applications you make. We are not a university, we are not an admissions service, and we have no say in whether anyone accepts you.

Who can use it

• You have to be at least 13.
• If you’re under 16, a parent or guardian has to give permission before your account works. We ask for their email when you sign up and send them a link.
• One account per person. Don’t share it and don’t sign up on someone else’s behalf.
• Keep your password to yourself. Anything done from your account counts as done by you.

Tell us the truth about your grades and your date of birth. Not because we’ll catch you out, but because everything Ascenda tells you is calculated from them, so wrong inputs give you wrong answers.

What we don’t promise

This is the section worth reading properly.

• Match scores are estimates. We compare your profile to a course’s published requirements and rank the results. It is a guess about fit. It is not a prediction that you will get in, and no admissions office has seen it.
• Course information can be out of date. Entry requirements, deadlines and fees come from public sources and change without telling us. Before you rely on any of it — especially a deadline — check it on the university’s own website.
• The assistant gets things wrong. Ascendi is an AI. It is useful for working out what to do next; it is not a counsellor, and it should not be the only thing you check before making a decision that matters.
• We’re not admissions advice. Nothing in Ascenda is professional guidance about your education or your career. If something is important, talk to a person at your school.

What you write

Your essays, notes and everything else you put into Ascenda stay yours. We don’t claim any ownership of them, we don’t publish them, and we don’t show them to anyone else.

To run the service we need permission to store your work and to process it — including sending the relevant parts to Google when you use the AI features, which the privacy page sets out in detail. That permission exists only so Ascenda can do what you asked it to, and it ends when you delete your account.

Only upload documents that are yours to upload. If a file has someone else’s personal information in it, make sure they would be fine with that.

Things you can’t do

• Break into accounts that aren’t yours, or try to.
• Scrape our course database, or copy it to build something else.
• Use Ascenda to send anyone abuse, spam or anything illegal.
• Try to break the site, get round its limits, or automate it at a volume a person couldn’t.
• Resell access, or use Ascenda to run a paid service for other people.

What we’re responsible for

We build this carefully and we fix what we break. But Ascenda is a tool for planning, not a guarantee of an outcome, and we can’t be responsible for a decision you make because of something you read here that turned out to be wrong — particularly a deadline. Check deadlines with the university. We say this twice because it is the one mistake that cannot be undone.

Stopping

You can leave whenever you want. Go to Account & data in your profile and delete your account — we wait seven days in case you change your mind, then erase everything. The privacy page says exactly what that means.

We can suspend or close an account that is being used for any of the things in the list above, or in a way that puts other people’s data at risk. If we do, we’ll tell you why, and you can still ask for a copy of your data.

Changes

We’ll update these terms as Ascenda changes. If a change matters to you, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top says when they last changed.

The legal bits

If any part of these terms turns out not to hold, the rest still does. If we don’t enforce something straight away, that doesn’t mean we’ve given it up.
